METIS Construction & Trade Co. Inc. was founded in 1967.

METIS has been operational in the industry on both domestic and worldwide basis. In Turkey, METIS has been providing qualified services to the state authorities and private industries. In this context, METIS has vast amount of references in disciplines of Housing, Building, Water, Environment, Industry and Transportation.

Among these, a special emphasis needs to be given to transportation and military projects. METIS is a major performer in the campaign of transforming from roads to motorways carried out by State Highways Authority. METIS contributed to infrastructure improvement efforts of NATO and Turkish Armed Forces and acquired the expertise for execution of classified and complex projects that require high technology. Some sixty projects in number were delivered to Ministry of Defense NATO Infrastructure Department and other Military agencies in Turkey.

Together with a few more number of Turkish contractors, METIS had been one of the pioneers in the expansion of Turkish Construction Industry to overseas markets. This challenge prompted METIS to rearrange its corporate structure in accordance with this new direction and become an international construction firm.

Libya was the first overseas marketplace for METIS. Since 1980, METIS presence there has been uninterrupted, increasingly profound and successful. In Libya, METIS has completed many projects in various sizes and types. Today METIS stands as not only a visionary pioneer in Libya, but also one of the leading Turkish contractors there in terms of capabilities and knowledge.

A decade after the entry to Libya, METIS became one of the flag carriers of Turkish Contracting Industry to spot the huge opportunities created by the collapse of Soviet Socialist Republic. METIS entered the fast-growing market of the ‘Commonwealth of Independent States’; Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan under the name MENSEL JV. METIS served to a variety of clients by implementing construction projects of different nature and complexity. Through its presence in this huge territory, METIS had been recognized by its clients for completion of its tasks within the project budget in a timely manner and with the high quality of work.

Following the military operations of United States Government in Iraq, METIS began to contribute to both the U.S. State Department and U.S. Department of Defense in support of America’s ongoing operations. Under the umbrella of Joint Venture (‘JV’) entities, particularly created for American projects, METIS has demonstrated a remarkable performance for US clients. After the awarded success in Iraq, again for the US Government, METIS extended its geographical presence to Ghana, Mali, Pakistan, Romania, Georgia and Qatar.

Having left behind 43 years in the industry, METIS has an exceptional track record almost in every field of civil engineering. In figures, the total completed projects have a value worth of 4 billion US$. METIS is currently implementing projects in Turkey and overseas including Libya, Russian Federation, Iraq, Romania, Qatar and Pakistan with a workforce around 2000 people from different nationalities. All worldwide operations are managed by high profile professionals formed of engineers, architects and administrators that possess sector experience and corporate culture.
